High School Volleyball Roundup: Canistota beats Howard in tightly contested match

Canistota’s hitting leader was Natasha Letcher, who recorded 13 kills in the win. Chloe Nielsen tallied 26 set assists. Letcher and Brianna Buseman each had two service aces. Buseman had eight blocks and Syndey Randall came away with 21 digs.
Canistota is 2-4 and plays in the Bridgewater-Emery Tournament Saturday.
Jenna Clark led the Tigers with 16 kills and 28 digs. Kelsey Dawson recorded 14 kills. Mariah Noid had five aces. Sydney Thompson had 31 assists and 27 digs. Sam Hughes had 25 digs.
Howard plays Bridgewater-Emery Monday in Emery.

MARION — Kylie Hughes had 20 digs in Marion’s 3-0 win over Centerville Thursday. Set scores were 25-9, 25-21, 25-15.
Hughes also led Marion’s offense with seven kills. Ashley Rosenwald-Muller had six kills and three service aces. Kaitlyn Engbrecht had 17 digs. Katherin Luke had 13 set assists. Devin Nelson had nine set assists, eight digs and three service aces.
Marion improved to an 8-1 record this season and hosts Scotland Tuesday.
Mikayla Abbas led Centerville with three kills and eight digs. Gabby Larson had seven digs. Brittany Austin had six set assists, six digs and two service aces. Kristine Van Heerde had four blocks.
Centerville hosts Viborg-Hurley Tuesday.
Bon Homme 3, Irene-Wakonda 1
TYNDALL — The Bon Homme Cavaliers defeated the Irene-Wakonda Eagles 3-1 Thursday with set scores 25-21, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20.
Caitlin McLouth led Bon Homme’s offense with 15 kills. Alie Adams had 25 set assists and four service aces. Jody Kriz and Vanessa Navratil added five aces each. Navratil also had six kills and five aces.
The Cavaliers improved to 6-4 this season with the win. Bon Homme plays in the Cavalier Clash Saturday in Tyndall.
Dana Schank had nine kills for Irene-Wakonda. Chloe Nielsen had seven kills, six blocks and 14 digs. Trisha Kathol had 13 digs. Bailey Hinseth had eight set assists.
Irene-Wakonda is 1-5 for the season and plays at Parker Monday.

Jazmin Waite recorded four aces in the match. Haley Haak had four aces and 12 digs. Dani Stolz had eight kills and two blocks. Mikayla Weiss had 21 set assists. Kallyn Prangley had 23 digs.
Ellie Bleeker had two aces, five kills and five blocks for the Eagles. Brittany Zoss had four kills and 13 digs. Emily Schrag had six assists and 11 digs. Emily Reynen had three blocks. Destiny Reimnitz had two aces.
Mount Vernon hosts James Valley Christian Monday in Mount Vernon. Mitchell Christian is 2-4 and hosts Ethan Monday.

Sheyanne Brodkorb had six kills and nine digs for Wessington Springs. The Spartans are 1-5 and host Dakota Christian Tuesday.

LENNOX — The Parkston Trojans added a win to their record with a win over Lennox in three sets Thursday. Set scores were 25-16, 25-15, 25-17.
Laura Weiss had three aces, five kills, six digs and two blocks for Parkston. Whitney Weber had eight digs and five set assists. Krista Radke had 10 set assists. MacKenzie Lee had two aces, two kills and eight digs.
Parkston is 4-5 plays in the Cavalier Clash Saturday in Tyndall. Lennox plays West Central Thursday in Hartford.

STICKNEY — Whitney Endres had 15 digs in Ethan’s win over Corsica/Stickney Thursday. Set scores were 25-21, 25-16, 19-25, 25-19.
Anna Mueller had nine kills in the win. Darbi Gustafson, Rachel Hawkins and Morgan Tuttle each had six kills for the Rustlers. Holley Lindeman had seven service aces and 22 set assists. Tori Pollreisz had eight digs and Gustafson added seven.
Ethan is 6-4 this season and plays in the Bridgewater/Emery Tournament Saturday.

TDA’s Kelli Batterman recorded 12 kills, 25 digs, four blocks and four aces, while Morgan Ziegler added 10 assists.
Freeman’s Dina Soulek led all players with 20 kills, 22 digs and two aces, Grace Gering tallied 47 ssists, 13 digs and three aces and Shelby Jensen had 16 digs, eight kills and five aces.
TDA’s record improved to 3-4 and the team plays at the Bon Homme tournament Saturday. Freeman (2-4) hosts Scotland Monday.

LAKE ANDES — Sierra Svatos recorded 50 assists and 18 digs to lift Andes Central to a five-set victory over Platte-Geddes in a high school volleyball game.
Set scores were 21-25, 27-29, 25-18, 25-18, 16-14.
Andes Central’s Krista Winckler had 18 kills, 24 digs and one block, while Kellie Winckler recorded 38 digs and 15 kills.
Platte-Geddes’ Kelly Knudson led all players with 19 kills, 16 digs, one block and three aces. Mackenzie Millar recorded 35 digs, seven kills and three aces. Kelli Sprik had 26 assists, 16 digs, three kills and one ace.
Andes Central (6-0) plays in the Bon Homme tournament Saturday, while Platte-Geddes (4-3) hosts South Central Tuesday.

Avon’s Alyson Roth tallied 10 kills, 10 assists, five blocks, two digs and one ace, while Emily Mudder had 12 digs, four kills, two blocks and one ace.
