Sioux Falls woman pleads guilty to passing bad checks

A Sioux Falls woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to passing more than $1,800 worth of bad checks at grocery stores in Mitchell and Huron.

A Sioux Falls woman pleaded guilty Tuesday to passing more than $1,800 worth of bad checks at grocery stores in Mitchell and Huron.

Carla Marie Benton, 35, agreed to enter the guilty plea after Davison County prosecutors agreed to recommend a suspended prison sentence and allow a judge to decide if she should receive any jail time. In addition, Beadle County prosecutors agreed to drop another misdemeanor charge against Benton.

Sentencing is set for October.
