Kernels lose two matches in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS — The Mitchell High School girls’ tennis team dropped a pair of matches against Yankton and Sioux Falls Lincoln in a triangular.

The Kernels went 2-7 against both the Gazelles and Patriots.

No. 2 singles player Chelsea Kracht defeated Yankton’s Kaitlyn Frank 10-6, and Grace Grabenstein and Haley Smith beat Yankton in the No. 2 doubles match for the Kernels’ second win against the Gazelles.

Against Lincoln, No. 1 singles player Courtney Wells and Smith, the No. 4 singles player, both won their singles matches 6-4, 6-4.

The Kernels (1-12) host Spearfish and Yankton in a triangular at noon Saturday at Hitchcock Park in Mitchell.
