A Mitchell woman was arrested Aug. 30 for drunken driving after allegedly crashing into a parked trailer while texting and driving.

Santana Olga Andrade, 21, allegedly told police she had been drinking and was on her way to a bar while texting and driving when she crashed into a trailer parked in the 700 block of East First Avenue.

After Andrade failed a series of field sobriety tests and was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.173, she was arrested for first-offense drunken driving and careless driving, court documents say.

The legal limit for driving in South Dakota is 0.08.

She faces a maximum of one year in jail and a $2,000 fine for drunken driving, and 30 days in jail and a $500 fine for careless driving.

She is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
