Three slightly injured in two-vehicle crash Saturday night

Three people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Saturday on S.D. Highway 37 in Bon Homme County.

Three people suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle crash Saturday on S.D. Highway 37 in Bon Homme County.

Around 9 p.m., Ralph Mahoney, 77, of Fulton, was driving a 2008 Cadillac DTS north on Highway 37 when he attempted to pass a slow-moving tractor-trailer rig.

Ashley Sundet, 16, of Tripp, was driving a 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier south on the highway when Mahoney entered the passing lane. The two vehicles sideswiped each other just eight miles northwest of Tyndall.

Mary Mahoney, 76, of Fulton, was a passenger in Ralph Mahoney’s vehicle and suffered minor injuries.

Kristian McDaugale, 16, of Tripp, was a passenger in Sundet’s vehicle and was uninjured. All four were wearing seat belts. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. The Bon Homme County Sheriff’s Office, the Tyndall Police Department and the Bon Homme Fire and Emergency Medical Service assisted at the scene.
