PIERRE (AP) — South Dakota Gov. Dennis Daugaard has been selected as chairman of the National Governor’s Association’s natural resources committee.
The committee presides over issues involving land and agriculture management, water, energy and the environment.
Daugaard says he’s honored by the selection and looking forward to the challenge. Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett will lead the economic development and commerce committee, Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy will head the education and workforce development committee and Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley will chair the health and homeland security committee.
The National Governor’s Association was founded in 1908 as the collective voice of the nation’s governors.
