MC/MV ties Belle Fourche in boys' soccer

BELLE FOURCHE — Belle Fourche took a 1-0 halftime lead, but Mitchell Christian/Mount Vernon came back to even the game in the second half and earn a 1-1 tie in the boys’ high school soccer game Friday.

BELLE FOURCHE — Belle Fourche took a 1-0 halftime lead, but Mitchell Christian/Mount Vernon came back to even the game in the second half and earn a 1-1 tie in the boys’ high school soccer game Friday.

“I thought this was really a great team effort,” said MCMV coach Bob Lemon. “We withstood a lot of pressure, especially late in the game. We kept our composure and were able to finish the game, which was encouraging. It was a genuine team effort.”

Mitchell Christian/Mount Vernon scored 8:52 into the second half. Keegan Larson-Shields got the goal, assisted by Phillip Millar. In goal for Mitchell Christian/Mount Vernon was Aaron Lemon, who had 24 saves.

Belle Fourche had 25 shots on goal and MCMV had 10.

MCMV is at Custer at 1 p.m. (Mountain time) today.
