HAMMOND, La. — The South Dakota State University football team looks for its first win this weekend as it travels to take on Southeastern Louisiana University at 7 p.m. Saturday in Hammond, La.
Last week, SDSU (0-1) lost to Kansas 31-17 and Southeastern Louisiana was defeated 62-10 by Missouri.
Jackrabbits quarterback Austin Sumner was 14-of-31 passing for 175 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions, while SDSU running back Zach Zenner had 23 carries for 186 yards and one touchdown including a 99-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
Colgate University at University of South Dakota, 2 p.m.
VERMILLION — The University of South Dakota looks for its first win of the season in its home opener against Colgate University at 2 p.m. Saturday in Vermillion.
This is the first meeting between the two teams.
Last week, the Coyotes (0-1) were defeated by Montana 35-26 in both teams’ opening game of the season. CU (0-1) is coming off of a 40-23 loss against Albany.
Quarterback Josh Vander Maten was 12-of-19 in passing for 172 yards and two touchdowns for the Coyotes, while Marcus Sims carried the ball eight times for 42 yards.
Augustana College at University of Mary, 2:30 p.m.
BISMARK, N.D. — The Augustana College football team heads north to take on the University of Mary at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Bismark, N.D.
The Vikings (1-0) are coming off of a 35-14 victory against Northern State University.
Last season, UM shutout Augustana 10-0 in Sioux Falls. The Vikings lead the series 2-1.
Viking quarterback Josh Hanson was involved in all five of Augustana’s touchdowns last week, one rushing and four passing. Running back Dajon Newell led the Vikings with 106 yards against NSU.
Minnesota State University Moorhead
at University of Sioux Falls, 1 p.m.
SIOUX FALLS — The University of Sioux Falls hosts Minnesota State University Moorhead in its home opener at 1 p.m. Saturday in Sioux Falls.
Last week, USF (1-0) upset St. Cloud State University on the road 32-19 in its season opener.
Cougars quarterback Taylor Perkins went 25-of-42 in passing for 254 yards and three touchdowns, while running back Kristian Porter had 15 carries for 77 yards and one touchdown.
Dakota State University at Doane College, 7 p.m.
CRETE, Neb. — Dakota State University is in search of its first win as it plays on the road against Doane College at 7 p.m. Saturday in Crete, Neb..
Last season, Doane won the first-ever meeting with Dakota State 52-13.
DSU (0-2) was defeated by Dakota Wesleyan University 40-14 last week in Mitchell.
DSU’s Craig Hertz led defensively with 12 tackles, including seven solo.
Presentation College at Waldorf College, 1 p.m.
FOREST CITY, Iowa — The Presentation College football team hits the road to take on Waldorf College at 1 p.m. Saturday in Forest City, Iowa..
The Saints (1-0) are coming off of a 26-13 victory against Haskell Indian Nations.
Quarterback Stephen Braswell completed 21-of-37 passes for 257 yards and two touchdowns, and Eric Schueth had 10 carries for 53 yards and one touchdown.
Colorado School of Mines at South Dakota School of Mines, 7 p.m.
RAPID CITY — The South Dakota School of Mines looks for its first win of the season in its home opener against Colorado School of Mines in Rapid City.
SD Mines (0-1) is coming off of a 66-0 loss to the University of North Dakota.
