SDSU awards academic scholarships

Johnson, Mount Vernon

Shay Johnson of Mount Vernon was awarded the James G. and Susan K. Nachtigal Scholarship in support of the Jackrabbit Guarantee 2006 Challenge for the 2012-2013 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Johnson is an incoming freshman majoring in ag engineering at SDSU, the son of Gary and Pam Johnson and a 2012 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, where he was an “A” honor roll student, participated in the National Honor Society, football, wrestling, band, chorus, student council and made it to state wrestling his senior year.

Weiss, Mitchell

Kody Weiss of Mitchell was awarded the Ella Ollenburg Scholarship in support of the Jackrabbit Guarantee for the 2012-2013 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Weiss is an incoming freshman majoring in civil engineering at SDSU, the son of Dan and Dawn Weiss and a 2012 graduate of Mitchell High School, where he participated in football, basketball, track, oral interp, cross country, student council, and was class president and valedictorian.

McEntee, Mitchell

Karlie McEntee, of Mitchell, was awarded the Ella Ollenburg Scholarship in support of the Jackrabbit Guarantee for the 2012-2013 academic year at South Dakota State University.

McEntee is an incoming freshman majoring in biology at SDSU, the daughter of Jeff and Linda McEntee and is a 2012 graduate of Mitchell High School, where she maintained a 3.5 GPA and was involved in softball, golf, show choir, band and Girl Scouts.

Gillen, White Lake

Nick Gillen of White Lake was awarded the Harlan J. and Janice E. Quenzer Scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Gillen is an incoming freshman majoring in civil engineering at SDSU, the son of Ron and Carol Gillen and a 2012 graduate of White Lake High School, where his accomplishments were 2011 9AA state football runner-up, 2010 Class B state golf tournament seventh-place team, 2010 Future Problems Solvers International Competition, 10th place; and 2011 Future Problems Solvers International Competition, 11th place.

Rumbolz, Mitchell

Lexy Rumbolz of Mitchell was awarded the Ella Ollenburg Scholarship in support of the Jackrabbit Guarantee for the 2012-2013 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Rumbolz is an incoming freshman majoring in law at SDSU, the daughter of Randy and Nancy Rumbolz and is a 2012 graduate of Mitchell High School.

Roy, Mitchell

Avery Roy of Mitchell was awarded the Ella Ollenburg Scholarship in support of the Jackrabbit Guarantee for the 2012-2013 academic year at South Dakota State University.

Roy is an incoming freshman majoring in pre-chiropractic at SDSU, the daughter of Wayne Wilson and Delores Roy and is a 2012 graduate of Mitchell High School, where she was involved in Xtreme Cheerleading, cheer team, gold honor roll and received a most valued female athlete award.

Berg, Mitchell

Chelsea Berg of Mitchell was awarded the Ella Ollenburg Scholarship in support of the Jackrabbit Guarantee for the 2012-2013 academic year at South Dakota State University, Brookings.

Berg is a sophomore at SDSU, the daughter of Joyce Berg and is a 2011 graduate of Mitchell High School.
