CHAMBERLAIN — Despite losing 29-12 Friday in Chamberlain, the Cubs football team saw an impressive performance from junior Hudson Priebe.

The Cubs lost to Valentine, Neb., but Priebe was able to impress the fans with his ability to make plays.

Priebe scored Chamberlain’s two touchdowns. He recorded a 50-yard interception return for a touchdown while also scoring on a 70-yard play after Valentine blocked a Cubs’ punt.

“It was kind of crazy,” Chamberlain coach John King said of the touchdown on what looked to be a botched play for his team. “He’s a special kid and when given the opportunity, he’s going to make something happen and he did it on his own. It was a pretty heads up play.”

Priebe finished the night with 84 rushing yards on five carries while stepping up on defense with three solo tackles, a tackle for a loss, a fumble recovery, an interception and a blocked extra point.

“He’s a very talented player who had great athletic ability,” King said. “He’s able to make big plays and we’re looking to use that as much as possible.”

Chamberlain (1-1) returns to action Friday in a game against McCook Central/Montrose in Salem.
