Kernels tennis loses three in Huron

HURON — The Mitchell High School girls’ tennis team lost three matches Saturday in a quadrangular.

Mitchell lost 7-2 to Brandon Valley, 6-3 against Huron and 9-0 versus Aberdeen Central. All three were Eastern South Dakota Conference matches.

Mitchell’s Sammy Pooley, No. 6, picked up two singles wins on the day and also helped the No. 3 doubles team to a victory.

Pooley defeated Brandon Valley’s Jessie Valentine 8-5 and knocked off Huron’s Cassie Hedblom by the same score. Pooley also teamed with Allison Buckley for an 8-4 doubles win over Brandon Valley.

Mitchell (1-8) is back in action at 4 p.m. Thursday in a dual against Sioux Falls Washington at Mitchell’s Hitchcock Park.
