Area high school football roundup: Red Raiders top Parkston

WAGNER — Noah St. Pierre had two long touchdowns to help Wagner beat Parkston 15-10 in a high school football game Friday night.

St. Pierre had a 73-yard kickoff return in the first quarter and added a 61-yard run in the third quarter to score both of the Red Raiders’ TDs. St. Pierre had six carries for 67 yards and David Kocer had 14 carries for 70 yards for Wagner, which is 1-0 and plays Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian at 7 p.m. Friday in Platte.

Wagner finished with 167 yards rushing and Kocer led the team with 16 tackles and an interception. Sage Zephier added six tackles and an interception.

Parkston’s Wesley Dvorak had a 31-yard field goal to open the scoring in the game. The Trojans scored again on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Zach Scott to Dvorak.

Dvorak had eight carries for 45 yards and caught two passes for 90 yards. Scott was 9-of-23 in passing for 137 yards with two interceptions and a touchdown. Parkston finished with 80 rushing yards.

Parkston (0-2) hosts Saint Francis Indian at 7 p.m. Friday.

Hanson 30, Avon 14

ALEXANDRIA — Hanson had 50 rushes for 233 yards to beat Avon 30-14 Friday night.

To lead the Beavers’ rushing attack, Jacob Paradeis had 13 carries for 91 yards and two touchdowns, while Jordan Marquardt had 17 carries for 96 yards.

Hanson’s Tyler Pringle was 3-for-4 passing for 100 yards and a touchdown. Pringle also added five tackles and an interception defensively. Mason Mayer had two catches for 86 yards and a touchdown.

Avon finished with 19 carries for 140 yards as a team, getting two touchdowns from Brandon Kochmich. He led the defense with 16 tackles and had eight rushes for 19 yards. He ran for the game’s opening touchdown in the first quarter and added another score in the third.

The Pirates’ Logan Mudder was 3-of-6 passing with two interceptions for 21 yards. He also had seven carries for 56 yards.

Hanson (2-0) plays Freeman at 7 p.m. Friday in Alexandria for homecoming, while Avon (1-1) plays Gregory at USF Stadium at 1 p.m. Friday in Sioux Falls.

TYNDALL — Blase Vanecek rushed for 53 yards and passed for 101 in Bon Homme’s 33-0 win over Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian Friday.

Vanecek had 19 carries with two touchdowns on the ground and was 7-of-15 passing, but Ross Kortan led the team in rushing with 73 yards on eight carries.

Offensively, Bon Homme had 257 yards rushing on 38 carries.

Alec Weber had two catches for 48 yards and Sawyer Frederick and Alec Weber each had six tackles.

Platte-Geddes/Dakota Christian finished with 69 yards rushing and had 29 yards through the air for 98 yards of total offense.

Richard Sternberg was the team’s leading rusher but his individual stats were not reported.

Bon Homme (1-1) plays at Winner at 7 p.m. Friday, while PGDC (0-2) hosts Wagner at 7 p.m. Friday in Platte.

SCOTLAND — Garret Bruns led the South Central football team with four touchdowns to shutout Scotland 36-0 in Scotland.

Bruns also recorded 14 carries with 149 yards and two receptions for 44 yards in the game.

South Central’s Turner Serr completed 2-of-8 passes for 45 yards and two touchdowns. Serr also led in tackles with 10.

Scotland’s Garret Kotalik made 4 of 9 in passing for 12 yards. Logan Winckler and Anthony Walloch tallied eight tackles each.

South Central (1-1) hosts Colome Friday in Burke, while Scotland (0-1) plays Marion Friday in Marion.

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon’s Jared Long had four touchdowns in the football team’s 48-42 loss to Chester Area Friday night.

Long had 12 attempts for 60 yards and recorded five receptions for 143 yards. Cote Hinker had 10 carries for 175 yards and two touchdowns and had 18 solo tackles.

Deric Denning was 9-of-13 in passing with 180 yards and three touchdowns.

The Mustangs had 461 total offensive yards, while Chester Area recorded 418 offensive yards.

Chester Area’s Austin Opdahl had 18 carries for 126 yards and had one reception for 8 yards and a touchdown. Kenneth Shaffner led defensively with 13 tackles.

Mount Vernon (0-2) hosts Woonsocket/Wessington Springs/Sanborn Central Friday, while Chester Area (1-0) hosts Howard Friday in Chester.

CORSICA – Corsica/Stickney started its season with a 50-0 win over Menno Friday night. The game was ended in the third quarter due to the mercy rule

Corsica/Stickney’s Adam Bormann had 12 carries for 88 yards rushing and was 5-of-6 passing for 75 yards. Gunner Baan Hofman had eight carries for 100 yards. Lane Thomas had eight tackles and two interceptions. Cameron Kostal had 10 tackles. Corsica/Stickney had 393 total offensive yards, 75 passing and 318 rushing.

Austin Herboldt had 12 carries for 47 yards rushing for Menno. 103 total yard offense. Austin Handel had 10 tackles.

Corsica/Stickney is 1-0 and plays Tripp-Delmont/Armour next Friday in Armour. Menno is 0-2 this season and plays Andes Central Friday in Lake Andes.

Mitchel Foster had seven carries for 114 yards rushing for the Fliers. David Parsley had five carries for 88 yards. Jace Christiansen was 4-of-6 passing for 73 yards. Kyle Scofield was 1-of-1 receiving for 38 yards. Carter Ziebarth had 10 tackles and Jacob Scofield had seven.

MCM was led by Jerry Kappeman had eight tackles. Tim Gassman had seven carries for 23 yards.

TRIPP — Andes Central had 522 total offensive yards in its 50-12 win over Tripp-Delmont/Armour Friday.

Andes Central’s leading rusher was Zach Cournoyer with 97 yards. Gabe Cornouyer had 93 yards rushing. Brian Bruguier had 92 yards rushing and 51 yards passing. Zach Cornoyer also had eight tackles and one interception. Aaron Swanson had six tackles and one sack.

Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Shane Koster had 71 yards rushing. Gunnar Dally ran for 26 yards and passed for 52 yards.

Andes Central is 1-0 and hosts Menno Friday in Lake Andes. TDA is 0-2 and hosts Corsica/Stickney Friday in Armour.

GREGORY — Jaden Bartling rushed for 208 yards on 18 carries to lead Gregory to a 48-20 win over Colome Friday.

Brody Boes had 63 yards on 16 carries for Gregory. The team rushed 53 times for 374 yards. Bartling was 11-of-18 passing for 202 yards and grabbed one interception. Andrew Taggart had 113 yards on six receptions. Zach Sengelmann had eleven tackles and Jonah Beck had 10 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Gregory is 2-0 and plays Avon Saturday in the USF Bowl at 1 p.m.

Colome was led by Terrance Kinzer, who rushed 11 times for 95 yards, threw 3-of-5 for 36 yards and had 16 tackles. Lane Fawcett had 17 yards on one reception. Andrew Odden had 13 tackles.

Colome is 1-1 and plays South Central in Burke Friday.

WWSSC was led by Joe Davis who had three casrries for 38 yards. Trevor Easton had seven tackles.

St. Thomas More was led by Jake Sullivan with 18-of-32 passing for 285 yards and 15 carries for 52 yards rushing. St. Thomas More is 1-1 this season and hosts Douglas Friday.

CHAMBERLAIN — Chamberlain dropped to 1-1 with a 29-12 loss to Valentine, Neb., Friday.

Hudson Priebe was the leading rusher for Chamberlain with 84 yards on five carries. Andera Dalton and Brett Reimer each had 11 yards on one reception. Gage Basting led the defense with 10.5 tackles and Jami Walters added nine.

Chamberlain plays McCook Central/Montrose Friday in Salem.
