The Mitchell Historic Preservation Commission will discuss proposed façade improvement plans for the Midtown Plaza when it meets at noon today.

The city and Mitchell Main Street & Beyond have created a fund to assist downtown business owners to improve their façades. The council increased the size of the Main Street Revolving Loan Fund last year.

The commission is also scheduled to hear a report on the State Historic Preservation Office’s review of the Mitchell Historic Commercial District.

“The South Dakota Review of the Mitchell Historic Commercial District is just an ongoing review of the properties within the district that includes a building inventory,” said Molly Goldsmith, MMS&B’s executive director, and an ex-officio commission member.

“It looks at storefronts that have changed over a period of time and new or removed buildings.”

The commission will meet at noon at the Carnegie Resource Center. The meeting is open to the public.
