One injured in ATV rollover in Salem

SALEM — A freak all-terrain vehicle accident around 11:30 p.m Saturday ended with a Salem man being flown to Sioux Falls with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

SALEM — A freak all-terrain vehicle accident around 11:30 p.m Saturday ended with a Salem man being flown to Sioux Falls with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.

According to S.D. Highway Patrol reports, Thomas Hamre, 29, of Salem fell off his Arctic Cat ATV after taking a turn too sharply at the intersection of Main Street and Washington Avenue. Hamre fell on his face, receiving fractures and road abrasions. He was flown to Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls for treatment.

Units from Salem Ambulance, the McCook County Sheriff’s Office, and the Division of Game Fish and Parks also responded.
