Don Meyer leaves hospital, starts teaching course
ABERDEEN (AP) — Former Northern State University men’s basketball coach Don Meyer has launched a teaching tour, less than a month after having a heart pacemaker implant surgery.
The Associated Press reports Meyer started teaching his leadership course Thursday in Aberdeen, less than a day after leaving the hospital. He says he feels great and is continuing rehabilitation.
Meyer’s leadership course will take him as far as Mississippi. He says he plans to keep the travel schedule.
Meyer retired from coaching two years ago with an NCAA record 923 victories. His heart problems that included needing three valves replaced were related to cancer that doctors discovered after a 2008 car accident that cost Meyer part of his left leg.
