Adams Thermal Systems CEO defends company

CANTON (AP) — The head of a South Dakota business cited for 51 alleged safety and health violations says the government has ignored all of the good things the company has done.

CANTON (AP) — The head of a South Dakota business cited for 51 alleged safety and health violations says the government has ignored all of the good things the company has done.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is proposing to fine Adams Thermal Systems $225,000 for violations uncovered during a February inspection. The media reports that CEO Mike Adams says the Canton business that makes coolant systems will contest the findings.

Adams says his employees help build homes for Habitat for Humanity, mentor local teenagers and serve food to the homeless. He says the business also has established a memorial scholarship in honor of an employee who was crushed to death last November.

OSHA spokesman Scott Allen declined comment on Adams' claim that the agency has mischaracterized the company's record.
