Authorities find stolen items in Lake Andes residence

LAKE ANDES - The Charles Mix County Sheriff’s Office recovered some stolen items from a Lake Andes residence during an executed search warrant Tuesday.

Sheriff Randy Thaler said in a news release his office has one person in custody for the crimes. He said the many burglaries and thefts took place in Platte, Pickstown and Lake Andes at businesses and individual residences. During the search of the home, law enforcement also found many items reported stolen from businesses in Fairfax, Delmont, Tripp and Avon.

The sheriff’s office is still calculating the total dollar amount as the investigation continues, Thaler said.

The Boyd County, Neb., Sheriff’s Office and South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation are assisting in the investigation.
