Springfield man one of two people killed in accident near Martin

MARTIN (AP) — Two people have died and two people received life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle crash near Martin.

MARTIN (AP) — Two people have died and two people received life-threatening injuries in a one-vehicle crash near Martin.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 44-yearold Marvin Poorbear, of Springfield, was driving east on U.S. Highway 18 early Monday morning when he lost control of the vehicle and it rolled. Poorbear, who was wearing a seatbelt, was killed. Three passengers who were not wearing seatbelts were thrown from the vehicle.

Twenty-three-year-old Melisa Cummings, of Martin, died. The other two passengers were taken to a Sioux Falls hospital.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
