SUV collides with school bus south of Mitchell

A Dietrich Bus Service bus was involved in a crash with an SUV Monday afternoon four miles south of Mitchell.
The accident occurred between 4 and 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of state Highway 37 and 295th Street. At least one person was transported by ambulance, and at least one other person was being attended to by emergency personnel.
Students were off-loaded from the bus and were sitting in a ditch. Monday was the first day of school in the Mitchell School District.
The Daily Republic is seeking more information from Highway Patrol troopers who were at the scene and will report more details as they become available.
