To the Editor:

I called Tim Johnson’s office when he went after Rep. Noem for introducing a bill to stop the EPA from regulating farm dust.

He said we had better things to do. Sen. Johnson’s letter says EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson says the EPA was unlikely to single out farm dust. You note she said “unlikely to.”

The EPA reviews this every five years: the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS). He said these standards remain the same as they have been for decades.

Sen. Johnson also has our right to bear arms but the president administration is trying to change that.

Thanks to Sen. Thune and Rep. Noem and a bipartisan group of senators and representatives sending a protest to the White House, plus Dick Morris having 400,000 citizens call their senators and representatives to protest the signing of the U.N. bill to take away our right to bear arms, plus the help of the NRA, it has been put on hold. But if Obama gets back in, look out.

Now back to the dirt. This spring when there was a strong wind in Rapid City, the National Weather Service asked farmers to voluntarily cut back on field work. So if field work dirt is coarse particles, why cut back?

Now Varilek is after Noem for missing some voting to get her diploma. I guess she shouldn’t have dropped out of college to help save the farm after her dad died.

What would he say if she was sick and missed months like some present-day Democrats and yes, a Republican a few years back?

Now I suppose Varilek will go after her for accepting the best of Congress award for helping working moms. She should have been working on the farm bill.

It seems that instead of working on the farm bill we had to work on sanctions against Iran. Noem has been doing a lot of work for U.S. vets and the VAs. Is that bad, too, Mr. Varilek?
