EXPENDABLES 2

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture are reunited in this new action hit.

The Expendables team takes on some new members when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists them for a seemingly simple job. It looks like an easy paycheck for Stallone and his band of old-school mercenaries. But when things go wrong and one of their own is viciously killed, the Expendables are compelled to seek revenge in hostile territory where the odds are stacked against them. Bent on payback, the crew cuts a swath of destruction through opposing forces, wreaking havoc and shutting down an unexpected threat in the nick of time—six pounds of weapons-grade plutonium—enough to change the balance of power in the world. But that’s nothing compared to the justice they serve against the villainous adversary who savagely murdered their brother. That is done the Expendables way!

“Expendables 2” opens today nationally, including at the Luxury 5 Cinemas. 103 minutes. It is rated R for strong bloody violence throughout.

CAMPAIGN

Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis star in this comedy about two of the most inept idiots to ever run for Senate.

When long-term congressman Cam Brady (Will Ferrell) commits a major public gaffe before an upcoming election, a pair of corrupt millionaires plot to put up a rival candidate to gain influence over their North Carolina district. They choose naive Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis), director of the local Tourism Center. At first, Marty appears to be the unlikeliest possible choice but, with the help of a cutthroat campaign manager and his family’s political connections, he soon becomes a contender. As Election Day closes in, the two are locked in a dead heat, with insults quickly escalating to injury until all they care about is burying each other, in this mudslinging, back-stabbing, home-wrecking comedy.

The film also stars Jason Sudeikis, Dan Aykroyd, Katherine LaNasa and Dylan McDermott. It was directed by Jay Roach who also directed “Meet the Parents.”

“Campaign” is held over. 97 minutes. It is rated R for crude sexual content, language and brief nudity.

PARANORMAN

This new animated family adventure comedy is from the producers of the Academy Award nominated “Coraline.”

A small town comes under siege by zombies. Who can the town call? Only misunderstood local boy Norman (voiced by Kodi Smit-McPhee), who is able to speak with the dead. In addition to the zombies, he’ll have to take on ghosts, witches and, worst, of all, grown-ups, to save his town from a centuries-old curse. But this young ghoul whisperer may find his paranormal activities pushed to their otherworldly limits.

“Paranorman” opens today nationally, including at the Luxury 5 Cinemas. 92 minutes. It is being shown in 3D and 2D at alternating times. It is rated PG for scary action and images, thematic elements, some rude humor and language.

HOPE SPRINGS

Meryl Streep and Tommy Lee Jones play a long married couple trying to rekindle the flame in this romantic comedy.

Kay (Streep) and Arnold (Jones) are a devoted couple, but decades of marriage have left Kay wanting to spice things up and reconnect with her husband. When she hears of a renowned couple’s specialist (Steve Carell) in the small town of Great Hope Springs, she attempts to persuade her skeptical husband, a steadfast man of routine, to get on a plane for a week of marriage therapy. Just convincing the stubborn Arnold to go on the retreat is hard enough —- the real challenge for both of them comes as they shed their bedroom hang-ups and try to re-ignite the spark that caused them to fall for each other in the first place.

“Hope Springs” is held over. 135 minutes. It is rated PG-13 for mature thematic content involving sexuality.

BOURNE LEGACY Writer and director Tony Gilroy expands the Bourne universe created by Robert Ludlum in his bestselling books with an original story that introduces us to a new hero played by Jeremy Renner. His life-or-death stakes have been triggered by the politicians who are trying to disavow the program and are trying to eliminate each member of this group of super killers and spies they created. Rachel Weisz, Edward Norton, and Albert Finney also star. “Bourne Legacy” is held over. 135 minutes. It is rated PG-13 for violence and action sequences.

DIARY OF A WIMPY KID: DOG DAYS School is out and Greg is ready for the days of summer, when all his plans go hilariously wrong.

During his summer vacation, “Wimpy Kid” Greg Heffley, the hero of the phenomenally successful book series, hatches a plan to pretend he has a job at a ritzy country club which fails to keep him away from the season’s dog days, including embarrassing mishaps at a public pool and a disastrous camping trip.

The family comedy stars Zachary Gordon, Devon Bostick, Rachael Harris, Robert Capron, and Steve Zahn.

“Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days” is showing Friday and Saturday at the Starlite Drive-in Theatre. 94 minutes. It is rated PG for some rude humor.

ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT

Ray Romano and John Leguizamo lead an all-star cast lending their voices to this hilarious animated adventure of the Ice Age gang!

Scrat’s nutty pursuit of the cursed acorn, which he’s been after since the dawn of time, has world-changing consequences—- a continental cataclysm that triggers the greatest adventure of all for Manny, Diego and Sid. In the wake of these upheavals, Sid reunites with his cantankerous Granny, and the herd encounters a ragtag menagerie of seafaring pirates determined to stop them from returning home.
