A 23-year-old Mitchell man lost his suspended imposition of sentence Tuesday for violating the terms of his probation in connection with a 2009 felony drug charge.
For violating the terms of his probation, Jacob Mark Fredericks lost the suspended imposition of sentence he was granted in connection with a felony marijuana possession charge he pleaded guilty to in December 2011.
A suspended imposition gives offenders the opportunity to keep a clear record if they follow all terms of probation.
Fredericks was sentenced to two years in prison, but Judge Rodney Steele suspended the execution of that sentence, meaning Fredericks will spend two more years on probation and the conviction will appear on his record. Fredericks will also be required to participate in the state 24/7 Sobriety program and complete an outpatient drug treatment program. He was given credit for the 53 days he already served in jail.
