A 31-year-old Mitchell man is denying he violated the terms of his probation after allegedly breaking into a motel room and assaulting his ex-girlfriend.
Jamie Dean Drapeau was arrested July 14 and charged with domestic aggravated assault and first-degree burglary, both felonies, and false imprisonment, a misdemeanor. He is accused of allegedly entering an unlocked room at the Corn Palace Motel and getting into a physical altercation with his ex-girlfriend, and eventually threatening her with a pocket knife.
Drapeau was already serving a five-year term of probation in connection with another incident of assault that took place in January 2011.
Prosecutors allege Drapeau violated the terms of his probation by being arrested July 14, having a blood alcohol content of 0.152 at the time of that arrest and for allegedly testing positive for marijuana on July 7.
Drapeau appeared in court Tuesday and denied the violations. A hearing to decide the matter is scheduled for later this month.
