Mitchell Regional Habitat for Humanity is hosting family selection information meetings for anyone who is interested in becoming a Habitat homeowner.
Applications for homeownership are available only by attending one of these meetings. Since acceptance into the Habitat program means buying a home, the application is actually a mortgage loan application.
Area Habitat for Humanity family selection informational meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, and 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, at First Lutheran Church, 411 N. Duff St., Mitchell.
Participants should bring copies of federal income tax returns for 2010 and 2011, pay stubs for the last 30 days, and proof of legal residency in the United States.
Please do not bring children to this meeting.
If you have lived in Davison or Hanson County for one year and can demonstrate the ability to repay the mortgage in a timely manner but cannot qualify for a traditional home loan, the Habitat program may be for you.
Average monthly mortgage payment is $450, including principal, taxes and insurance. The average Habitat home consists of about 1,000 square feet and has one bathroom.
