The Mitchell Prehistoric Indian Village is hosting its August Moon Festival on Saturday night under the first full moon of the month.
The event will raise money for the village and the Dakota Discovery Museum, said Cindy Gregg, executive director of the Indian Village.
“This is going to be a fun event,” Gregg said. “It’s going to be held on a shady block overlooking the lake, and it’s just going to be pretty.”
One highlight is an Ultimate Shopping Event, with works from artists and artisans in the Shoppe Antiquary. Supper will be farm-totable, and the food will be prepared on site.
Mogen’s Heroes — a band based in Sioux Falls — will play live music for dancing.
And the biggest part of the night will be the raffle drawing. The grand prize is a seven-day vacation for two in Florida, which includes airfare, car rental, a three-bedroom and two-bathroom home with a hot tub and swimming pool, four-day Disney passes and a one-day Sea World pass.
Gregg said the winner of the grand prize can also opt out of the trip and take $2,500 cash instead.
Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased at County Fair Food Store in Mitchell, at the Prehistoric Indian Village or by calling (605) 996-5473.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate if some are available, but Gregg said the cutoff is 400 tickets. As of Wednesday afternoon, there were still tickets available.
This event will show support for two of the best museums in the area, Gregg said.
“We have some little surprises in store for the people who are coming,” Gregg said. “I think everybody’s going to have a really, really good time. There is no doubt in my mind about that.”
