The Mitchell Black teener baseball team had 12 hits to Mitchell White’s nine, leading to a 15-11 Black win Monday at Drake Field in Mitchell. Devin Mehlhaff earned the win for Black, which had eight pitchers get time on the mound in both teams’ final tune-up before the state tournament, starting this weekend.

The Mitchell Black teener baseball team had 12 hits to Mitchell White’s nine, leading to a 15-11 Black win Monday at Drake Field in Mitchell.

Devin Mehlhaff earned the win for Black, which had eight pitchers get time on the mound in both teams’ final tune-up before the state tournament, starting this weekend.

Mehlhaff threw two innings in relief.

Parker Wenzel had three hits for Black, Carter Star had two hits and Jed Schmidt doubled.

Mitchell White (24-14) got three from Matt Muth. Elijah Pommer had two hits with a double and Spencer Neugebauer had a pair of hits.

Both head to its state baseball tournament Friday. Black (25-24) is in Brookings, and White plays in Huron.

Teener Gold picks up two victories over Brookings

BROOKINGS — Mitchell Gold won 14-2 and 15-11 in a teener baseball doubleheader Monday.

Ryker Kreutzfeldt picked up the win for Gold in the first game, throwing all six innings. He struck out seven, allowed three hits and one earned run. He walked two.

Luke Bartl had four hits, Aaron Sudbeck had four hits with two doubles and Kanin Nelson and Ben Miller each added three hits. Jacob Cersosimo led the game off with a triple.

Mitch Johnson threw two innings and picked up the win in the second game. He allowed eight runs on four hits and four walks.

Neil Schlimgen had three hits and scored three runs, Sudbeck had three hits and Nelson had two hits.

Mitchell (19-28) hosts Brandon Valley at 5 p.m. today in a doubleheader at Drake Field.
