Corsica advances to Legion semifinals

MILBANK — Corsica’s Legion baseball team is two wins away from a Class B state baseball championship after a 13-2 win in seven innings over Flandreau Monday in Milbank.

MILBANK — Corsica’s Legion baseball team is two wins away from a Class B state baseball championship after a 13-2 win in seven innings over Flandreau Monday in Milbank.

Ryan Hongslo pitched all seven innings for the win. He allowed two runs on three hits and two walks and struck out one.

Dustin Bultje was the only Corsica batter with multiple hits, finishing with two. All nine players in the lineup scored at least once in the game.

The loss was Flandreau’s first of the tournament and the team had already earned a berth in the championship game, which is scheduled for 5 p.m. today in Milbank.

Corsica will take on Groton at 1 p.m. today in Milbank for a bid into the title game.

Groton 23, Miner/McCook 1 (5 innings)

MILBANK — Groton defeated Miner/McCook 23-1 in five innings in an elimination game at the Class B Legion baseball state tournament Monday in Milbank.

Groton scored 18 runs in the fifth inning to advance to the semifinals against Corsica at 1 p.m. today in Milbank.

Tyler Genzlinger suffered the loss on the mound for Miner/McCook, which recorded two hits as a team in the loss.
