SD Pork Producers to hold meetings in Mitchell and Watertown

Group to educate on increasing feed costs.

SIOUX FALLS — The South Dakota Pork Producers Council announces its Producers Meetings at two South Dakota locations on Thursday.

“Pork producers are faced with having to make some very serious management decisions due to extremely high feed costs resulting from the current drought situation,” said Glenn Muller, SDPPC executive director. “Dr. Thaler’s expertise and experience in maximizing feed efficiencies becomes even more valuable during times like this. We encourage anyone with an interest in learning how to respond to these increasing feed costs to attend these meetings.”

Meetings date and locations are as follows:

• Thursday, Aug. 2, 1 p.m.; SDSU Extension, Mitchell Regional Center in Mitchell

• Thursday, Aug. 2, 7 p.m.; SDSU Extension, Codington County Complex in Watertown

All pork producers should attend this educational seminar highlighting different options on how to respond to the current economic situation. Learn more about how to prepare for the upcoming months of feeding your livestock. We will have Dr. Bob Thaler of SDSU and he will speak on Options for Responding to Record Feed Prices. We will also be a demonstration on how to access and utilize the SDSU iGrow website.
