RAPID CITY (AP) — Rapid City officials say 99 people have applied to be the city’s next parks and recreation director. Mayor Sam Kooiker says 26 of the applicants are from South Dakota, including 17 from Rapid City. The city stopped accepting applications last week. Kooiker said he’s looking for someone with extensive leadership experience and ties to the region.
The position is appointed by the mayor and affirmed by the city council. Kooiker says he hopes to have the job filled by the end of September.
