Class B state amateur baseball first-round pairings released

This year’s Class B state amateur baseball tournament begins at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with Colman taking on Wynot.

The brackets were announced Sunday afternoon by the South Dakota Amateur Baseball Association. The field of 32 Class B teams will take part in the 12-day tournament.

Action begins Wednesday and runs through Aug. 12, with the championship game at 2 p.m. All games will be played in Mitchell.

The final first-round game takes place at 1 p.m. Sunday with the Sunshine League and District 5B champions the Parkston Mudcats taking on Harrisburg.

The Parkston Rock Bass take on Milbank in the opening round and the second round could match up the two Parkston foes.

Avon will face Britton at 11 a.m. Thursday while Friday hosts several area teams as Dimock/Emery faces Larchwood at 11 a.m. and Wessington Springs takes on Alexandria. The Owls and Angels have faced off twice this year, each team winning once.

Canova takes on Four Corners at 11 a.m. Saturday, Tabor faces the Renner Oldtimers at 1 p.m. Saturday and Winner/Colome will play Akron at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

First-round pairings

Wednesday: Colman vs. Wynot, 6 p.m.; Madison vs. Redfield Dairy Queen, 8 p.m.

Thursday: Britton vs. Avon, 11 a.m.; Clear Lake vs. Dell Rapids Mudcats, 1 p.m.; Salem vs. Redfield Pheasants, 5:30 p.m.; Lennox vs. Miller/Wessington, 7:30 p.m.

Friday: Dimock/Emery vs. Larchwood, 11 a.m.; Crofton vs. Garretson, 1 p.m.; Wessington Springs vs. Alexandria 5:30 p.m.; Irene vs. Lake Norden Lakers, 7:30 p.m.

Saturday: Canova-Howard vs. Four Corners, 11 a.m.; Renner Oldtimers vs. Tabor, 1 p.m.; Martin vs. Clark 5:30 p.m.; Akron vs. Winner/Colome, 7:30 p.m.

Sunday: Milbank vs. Parkston Rock Bass, 11 a.m.; Harrisburg vs. Parkston Mudcats 1 p.m.
