Mitchell police seek information on cases of vandalism

Three vehicles and an enclosed utility trailer were vandalized overnight earlier this week and the crime is the Mitchell Area Crime Stoppers “Crime of the Week.”
During the overnight hours of Tuesday into Wednesday, a person vandalized two vehicles and a trailer in the 400 block of West Fourth Avenue in Mitchell. A vehicle parked in the 600 block of East Second Avenue was also vandalized during this same time period.
Tires on all of these vehicles and the trailer were cut with a sharp object, causing approximately $2,500 in damage.
A reward of $250 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest.
Anyone with information relating to this incident or other suspicious activity in this area at this time is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 996-1700. There are no caller IDs attached to this phone line.
To send a crime tip via text message, text “MITCS” plus a message to 274637. Upon receipt of a tipster’s first incoming message, the system will auto-reply with a confirmation containing the tipster’s unique tip ID. Anonymous two-way communication can then occur between the tipster and investigators. Tips can also be reported at www.mitchellcrimestoppers.org.
To date, 340 crimes have been solved through information from Crime Stoppers.
