Area towns hosting events this weekend

Kimball hosts Desperado Days; Chamberlain-Oacoma holds Crazy Days; Platte celebrates Play in Platte; and Parkston holds Old Fashioned Saturday Night.

Several area towns will hold annual summer events this weekend.

Kimball’s Desperado Days begins at 5 p.m. today and runs through Sunday. Events include a kids’ obstacle course, a chainsaw artist and Texas Hold ’Em today; kids’ games, an oldtime costume contest and an ice cream social Saturday; and cowboy church and French toast breakfast on Sunday. Chamberlain-Oacoma will hold Crazy Days today and Saturday. Local businesses will offer deals, a rummage and bake sale will benefit the Dakota Senior Meals program, a petting zoo will be available and free swimming will be offered.

Platte will celebrate summer with its annual Play in Platte event. Crazy Days begins today with in-store deals around town and rummage sales citywide. There will be a bean bag toss tournament, a 9-hole golf tournament and inflatable games for kids. For a full list of activities, visit plattesd.org.

Parkston will hold its annual Old Fashioned Saturday Night this Saturday.

It will feature a bean bag tournament, hamster ball races, bingo and a fundraiser auction. The events start at 2 p.m. On Main Street from 4 to 7 p.m. there will be refreshments, face painting, scooters and a barrel ride.
