Dimock/Emery, Rock Bass headed to state

PARKSTON — Dimock/Emery punched its ticket to the state tournament Thursday with a 10-4 win over Mount Vernon in a District 5B amateur baseball game.

PARKSTON — Dimock/Emery punched its ticket to the state tournament Thursday with a 10-4 win over Mount Vernon in a District 5B amateur baseball game.

Dimock/Emery’s Phil Johnson threw all nine innings for the win. He gave up nine hits, walked two and he struck out 14.

Offensively for Dimock/Emery, Gary Earl had a home run, a single and four RBIs, Steve Ernster had three singles and Jeremy Zens had a double and a single.

Nick Young took the loss for Mount Vernon, allowing seven earned runs in five innings. He struck four and walked five.

Phil Malde had a double, a single and two RBIs and Chase Hetland and Eric Denning each had a pair of singles.

The state amateur baseball tournament starts Wednesday in Mitchell.

At 7:30 p.m. today, the Parkston Mudcats and Alexandria play for the District 5B championship in Parkston.

Parkston Rock Bass 6,

Platte 5

PARKSTON — Jordan Boehmer recorded a two-run single in the bottom of the ninth as the Parkston Rock Bass came from behind to beat Platte 6-5 in the District 5B amateur baseball tournament.

With the win, the Rock Bass locked up a spot in the amateur baseball state tournament.

Tom Murtha got the win in relief for Parkston.

Josh Wagner was the losing pitcher for Platte, he pitched the entire game. Keith Cutler had a home run in the first inning to give Platte an early lead.

No other stats were reported for this game.

The loss eliminates Platte from postseason play while the Rock Bass will wait to find out their state tournament opponent.
