Sioux Falls airport changes may affect golf course
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Required changes to the runway at the Sioux Falls airport may affect a nearby golf course.
SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Required changes to the runway at the Sioux Falls airport may affect a nearby golf course.
The airport needs to expand a safety buffer at the end of its runway. The Federal Aviation Administration says the changes need to be made by September 2013.
One option would require moving the airport's fence and perimeter road near the south end of the runway. The plan would alter at least three holes at the Elmwood golf course, and require moving a course used by younger golfers.
The airport's director tells the media that the FAA prefers the golf-course option because the airport's layout and the length of its runway wouldn't need to be changed.
