In accordance with its motto, “Sight and Service,” the Palace City Lions Club in Mitchell has purchased a Spot Vision screening machine. With this new vision screening technology, visual problems can be detected in children as young as 3 months.

This is a non-invasive test that takes approximately one minute. After the screening is completed, a computer printout will be provided to present to the optometrist or ophthalmologist of the participant’s choice. Palace City Lions will participate in a statewide effort to screen pre-school age children, free of charge. The goal of the Lions group is to catch and correct visual problems before a child begins school. If a preschool, school, church group or other organization would like to offer this program to affiliates or would like more information, call 996-0106.
