Alexandria tops Dimock/Emery in semis

PARKSTON — Trever Vermeulen struck out 12 in a complete-game, four-hit effort as Alexandria defeated Dimock/Emery 9-1 in the semifinals of the District 5 amateur baseball tournament Sunday in Parkston.

PARKSTON — Trever Vermeulen struck out 12 in a complete-game, four-hit effort as Alexandria defeated Dimock/Emery 9-1 in the semifinals of the District 5 amateur baseball tournament Sunday in Parkston.

Trevor Doyle had two hits and three RBIs for Alexandria, which was also helped by Peyton Smith who had a double and two RBIs.

Jason Schmidt suffered the loss for Dimock/Emery on the mound. He allowed four runs in five innings and struck out four.

Alexandria will play in the championship game of the tournament against the Parkston Mudcats at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Parkston.

Parkston Rock Bass 1

PARKSTON — The Parkston Mudcats defeated the Parkston Rock Bass 11-1 in seven innings to move on to the championship game of the Class B District 5 tournament Sunday in Parkston.

Brady Nolz struck out eight while only allowing one run on five hits and two walks to pick up the victory. Trevor Freudenthal had four hits including a homerun in the game.

Billy Murtha was the losing pitcher for the Rock Bass. He allowed seven runs on seven hits in three innings.
