Dimock/Emery, Alexandria advance in District 5B tournament

Johnston struck out four and didn’t walk a batter.
Offensively for Dimock/Emery, Gary Earl had a double and a single, Jon Hart, Doug Sudbeck and Mike Stephenson each had a single.
Grant Olson had Platte’s lone hit. It came in the eighth inning, a single in between first and second base.
Josh Wagner threw all nine innings for Platte and was tagged with the loss. He struck out five and walked two.
Dimock/Emery plays Alexandria at 7 p.m. Sunday in Parkston in the semifinals.

Corsica/Stickney 2
PARKSTON — John Greicar had two singles and four RBIs to help Alexandria defeat Corsica/Stickney 12-2 in seven innings due to the mercy rule in the District 5B amateur baseball tournament Friday.
Alexandria had nine hits, one error and was led on the mound by Chris Marek. He threw the complete game, struck out seven and walked one. He gave up all seven hits Corsica/Stickney recorded.
Trevor Doyle added three singles for Alexandria and Cole Wenande had two singles.
Corsica/Stickney had seven hits and six errors.
Jon Beckman took the loss. He threw four-plus innings, struck out six and he walked three.
Steven Blom relieved Beckman in the fifth. Blom, Ryan Buck and Kiefer Johnson each had two singles.
Alexandria plays Dimock/Emery in the tournament’s semifinals next, while Corsica/Stickney takes on Platte in an elimination game at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
