Rock Bass, Mudcats advance in District 5B
PARKSTON — The Parkston Rock Bass advanced to the District 5B semifinals with a 5-1 win over Mount Vernon Thursday.

PARKSTON — The Parkston Rock Bass advanced to the District 5B semifinals with a 5-1 win over Mount Vernon Thursday.
Parkston had four hits on two errors, and Richie Wiese picked up the complete-game victory. He struck out 13 and walked one.
Parkston’s Trevor Salmonson had an RBI double and Jordan Boehmer, Eric Maeschen and Dylan Mogck each had a single.
Mount Vernon had five hits and one error, and Nick Young struck out eight and walked six. He was tagged with the loss.
Freddy Ellis had two singles for Mount Vernon.
The semifinals of the District 5B tournament is being played Sunday in Parkston. The Rock Bass and Mudcats are playing at 5 p.m.

Parkston Bullheads 0
PARKSTON — Anthony Williams allowed one hit and struck out 15 in eight innings of work as the Parkston Mudcats defeated the Parkston Bullheads in the opening round of the Class B District 5 amateur baseball tournament Thursday in Parkston.
Williams picked up the win on the mound and was helped out offensively by Pat and Jeff Harris. Pat Harris recorded three hits, including a double, while Jeff Harris had two triples in the game.
Roger Albrecht had two hits in the game for the Mudcats.
Mike Chytka took the loss on the mound for the Bullheads. He threw five innings, allowing seven runs. Chytka had six strikeouts.
The Mudcats move on to the semifinals with the win and take on the Parkston Rock Bass at 5 p.m. Sunday in Parkston while the Bullheads drop to the consolation side of the bracket where they will take on Mount Vernon at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Parkston.
