ABERDEEN — Shayne Gottlob, of McCook Central/Montrose, led all scorers with 13 points and Mitchell’s Jade Miller added 12 as the South team defeated the North squad 67-66 in the annual South Dakota Boys’ Basketball All-Star game Tuesday in Aberdeen.
Winner’s Kyle Mathis also scored 12 points while adding eight rebounds for South in the win and Tripp-Delmont/Armour’s Adam Fink scored four. Chamberlain’s Tyson Langdeau had three points.
Post 18 faces S.F. East in regionals

Mitchell Legion Post 18 will take on Sioux Falls East in its first-round matchup in the region tournament at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Mitchell.
Yankton takes on Valley Springs in the other first-round game at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Mitchell. The winner of that contest faces off with top-seeded Sioux Falls West.
The regional is a double-elimination tournament.
Brandon Valley, Dell Rapids lead final polls

With postseason play looming, the final South Dakota amateur baseball polls were announced Wednesday with Brandon Valley leading Class A and the Dell Rapids Mudcats atop Class B.
Finishing the top five in Class B are Canova, Redfield, Crofton, Neb., and the Parkston Mudcats. Salem is seventh in the poll and Dimock/Emery closes out the top 10.
Behind Brandon Valley in the Class A polls are the Renner Monarchs, Yankton, Sioux Falls Saints and Pierre.
Vomacka strikes out 14 in Region tournament win

GREGORY — Robert Vomacka pitched a one-hitter and had 14 strikeouts as Gregory defeated Parkston 10-0 in the Region 4B junior teener tournament Wednesday in Gregory.
The win put Gregory in the championship game and with the loss Parkston dropped to the consolation finals where it will take on Colome, who defeated Menno 10-0 Wednesday.
Colome and Parkston face off at 4 p.m. Friday in Gregory with the winner taking on Gregory at 6:30 p.m.
Mount Vernon and Canova to face off in region finals

EMERY — Mount Vernon handed Canova a 12-2 defeat in the Region 3B 13-14 teener baseball tournament to knock Canova into the consolation bracket Wednesday in Emery.
After an 8-7 win over Kimball/White Lake, Canova earned a berth into the state tournament and has a chance at the regional championship. To claim the region title, Canova must beat Mount Vernon twice to knock them out of the double-elimination tournament.
The two teams square off at 3 p.m. today in Emery. There will be no second game if Mount Vernon wins the 3 p.m. game.
