Fiber & Feathers, an exhibit of the art of Nebraska textile artist Beth Vogel-Baker, is available for viewing at the Dakota Discovery Museum in Mitchell.
Vogel-Baker had always been drawn to wool when she learned to knit but after participating in a wet felting workshop her love turned to a passion for the process and the fiber.
“The idea of transforming wool fiber into surface struck me as magical and the warmth, texture and colors inspired me to create and design,” she said.
Her works incorporate merino wool and organic found objects to create replicas of the natural world around her.
Fiber & Feathers is on exhibit at the Dakota Discovery Museum through Sept. 15. The museum is located on the campus of Dakota Wesleyan University at 1300 McGovern Ave., Mitchell. A free admission public reception will be held for the artist from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Regular museum hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The museum is closed on Sunday and Wednesday.
