Governor, first lady are grandparents

PIERRE (AP) — Gov. Dennis Daugaard and first lady Linda Daugaard are grandparents.

Reports say that Henry Raymond Venhuizen was born Friday evening in Pierre to the couple’s daughter, Sara Venhuizen, and Tony Venhuizen, a senior adviser for the governor.

Daugaard chief of staff Dusty Johnson said it’s the Daugaards’ first grandchild.

The baby is 7 pounds, 8 ounces and 21 1/4 inches long.

The Venhuizens named their son after two of their grandfathers, Henry Poppen and Ray Daugaard.
