McCarty, McLaughlin to wed Oct. 6

Kelly McCarty and Matthew McLaughlin announce their engagement.

Parents of the couple are Dave and Patty McCarty, Raleigh, N.C.; and Mike and Leslie McLaughlin, Greenbelt, Md.

Kelly, granddaughter of the late Les and Carol McCarty is a 2005 graduate of Enloe High School, Raleigh, and a 2009 graduate of Elon University. She received her master’s degree from Arizona State University in human rights and social justice in May 2011. She is working for the Washington Office on Latin America, Washington, D.C.

Matthew is a 2003 graduate of Eleanor Roosevelt High School, Greenbelt, Md., and a 2007 graduate of Ringling College of Art and Design. He received his master’s of fine arts from Arizona State University in December 2011. He is teaching at Corcoran College of Art and Design, Washington, D.C.

An Oct. 6 wedding is planned at Greenbelt Community Center, Greenbelt, Md.
