Abbott House presents awards, unveils motorcycle on Ernie Peters Day

Abbott House, a Mitchell-based residential treatment center for girls gave awards as part of the Ernie Peters Day Celebration banquet at the County Fair Banquet Hall.
Gopal Vyas received the 2012 Children’s Champion Award, and Boyd and Evelyn Blumer were presented with the 2012 Community Children’s Champion Award. All three were recruited to serve on Abbott House’s board of directors by Peters, who served as Abbott House’s director for 31 years before his death in 2004.
Longtime supporters H. Paul and Peggy Dennert, of Columbia; and Audrey and Gene Juffer, of Mitchell, were also recognized.
Abbott House will raffle off “Mosaic,” a 2006 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide motorcycle that was rebuilt by teams of House girls as part of the Helping with Horsepower bike rebuild program. Tickets can be purchased online at: www.abbotthouse.org.
