An 18-year-old Tripp man faces multiple charges after allegedly driving under the influence of hydrocodone in Mitchell.

Keigan Jacobson was arrested July 1 after law enforcement responded to a traffic complaint reporting a vehicle driving in and out of a ditch, court documents say. A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper located the vehicle, which Jacobson was driving, on Burr Street near Interstate 90.

Jacobson allegedly told the trooper he did not have his driver’s license with him, but a computer check revealed his license was revoked. The trooper noticed grass on Jacobson’s shorts, shirt and hair, and was told he went into the ditch, court documents say. Jacobson allegedly admitted to taking hydrocodone, and told the trooper he had recently had his wisdom teeth removed.

The trooper found two bags containing a “green leafy substance” in Jacobson’s vehicle, and both were sent to the State Health Lab for testing, court documents say.

Jacobson is charged with second-offense DUI and driving with a revoked license, both misdemeanors. He is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
