Bjorkman graduates from West Point

WEST POINT, N.Y — Second Lieutenant Samuel Bjorkman, son of Timothy and Carol Kay Bjorkman, of Canistota, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., on May 26.

WEST POINT, N.Y — Second Lieutenant Samuel Bjorkman, son of Timothy and Carol Kay Bjorkman, of Canistota, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., on May 26.

Bjorkman graduated from Canistota High School in 2008. While at West Point, he concentrated his studies in Chinese and systems engineering. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army and, upon graduation, will serve in the Air Defense Artillery branch, and will eventually be stationed at Kadena, Okinawa, Japan.

Bjorkman followed his older brothers into military service. His brother, Capt. James Bjorkman, is a 2006 graduate of West Point and served a tour of duty in Iraq as a platoon leader. His other brother, John Bjorkman, served a tour of duty in Iraq and a second in Kuwait with the South Dakota National Guard’s Charlie Battery.
