The South Dakota Department of Transportation says work on Rowley Street in Mitchell will begin Monday.

Rowley Street will be reconstructed from Havens Avenue south for about 300 feet to improve the alignment of the intersection of Rowley and Havens.

Rowley Street will be closed from Havens Avenue to Milan Avenue during construction. Rowley Street traffic will be detoured around the work area using Havens Avenue, Main Street and McCabe Street. Access to Havens Avenue businesses will be maintained from Havens Avenue. Motorists should expect traffic congestion and should be alert for construction equipment, workers and suddenly slowing traffic.

Rowley Street is expected to be re-opened in mid-August. The prime contractor is Interstate Improvement Inc., of Faribault, Minn.
