Jerauld assists in Huron drug bust

HURON — The Jerauld County K9 unit, Deputy Shane Mentzer and Ajax, a Belgian Malinois dog, assisted the Huron Police Department and South Dakota Highway Patrol in a drug bust Monday.

The Huron Police Department Special Response Team and South Dakota Highway Patrol Alpha Team executed four search warrants on residences in Huron based on investigations by the state Division of Criminal Investigation, according to a release from the Huron Police Department.

Agents seized an undisclosed amount of marijuana, methamphetamine and cash from the residences and arrested five suspects for various drug-related charges.
