RAPID CITY (AP) — South Dakota Boy Scouts are making room for scouts from Colorado whose camps were closed because of raging wildfires.
Black Hills chapter spokesman Mike McGinnis says more than 135 scouts from Colorado have traveled to Medicine Mountain Scout Ranch outside of Custer.
McGinnis says local camp directors agreed to host the Colorado group even though the South Dakota camp was already full. The staff created new campsites and brought in portable toilets.
The scouts from the two states have been hiking, rock climbing, spelunking and mountain biking.
