The Platte amateur baseball team defeated the Mitchell Mad Dogs 20-4 in seven innings Friday in a Sunshine League game.
Platte’s Audie Kuipers was 6-for-6 with a triple, two doubles and three singles, Grant Olson and Frank Cutler each had three singles and Keith Cutler had a triple and two singles.
Hayden Kuiper was the winning pitcher. He had five strike outs in seven innings. He allowed four hits and two earned runs.
Alex Loes took the loss for the Mad Dogs.
Offensively for Mitchell, Matt Huber had a double and single. Loes and Tyler Earls each had a single.
Platte (4-6) hosts Mount Vernon at 7 p.m. Sunday, while the Mad Dogs play the Parkston Rock Bass at 5 p.m. Sunday in Parkston.
PARKSTON MUDCATS 1
EMERY — Dimock/Emery had three pitchers take the mound in a 4-1 Sunshine League game victory over the Parkston Mudcats Friday night.
Dimock/Emery’s Sam Pischke earned the win in relief. He threw two innings and gave up one hit, struck out one batter and he walked three.
Jason Schmidt started for the Raptors and threw four innings. He gave up one hit and one run. He walked five and struck out five.
Phil Johnson pitched three innings and earned the save. He gave up two hits and struck out two.
Offensively for Dimock/Emery, Jon Hart had two hits with a double, Doug Sudbeck had two hits with a double and Schmidt had an RBI double.
Parkston’s Anthony Williams was the losing pitcher. He threw eight innings and gave up nine hits. He struck out nine.
Pat and Jeff Harris each had a hit and Roger Albrecht had an RBI single.
Dimock/Emery (10-12 overall, 9-3 in Sunshine League) plays Corsica/Stickney at 7 p.m. Sunday in Dimock. Parkston has this week off from Sunshine League play.
PARKSTON ROCK BASS 2
PARKSTON — Alexandria defeated the Parkston Rock Bass 5-2 Friday night.
Chris Marek was the winning pitcher for Alexandria. He pitched a complete game, allowed one earned run, three this and had six strikeouts.
Offensively for Alexandria, Pierce Smith went 2-for-5 and Chris Marek went 3-for-5 with three doubles.
Billy Murtha pitched six and two thirds innings. He allowed five runs; two earned, and struck out six.
Rich Wiese closed for the Rock Bass, he struck out three.
James Boehmer went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and Dylan Mogck went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Alexandria improves to 13-4 overall and plays at 5 p.m. today versus the Dell Rapids Mudcats at Cadwell Park in Mitchell.
The Rock Bass are back in action o Sunday when they play the Mitchell Mad Dogs in Parkston. Game time is set for 5 p.m.
