SIOUX FALLS (AP) — Police have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery at a Sioux Falls bank.

The 21-year-old man was arrested on a first-degree robbery charge Monday, the same day a man with a handgun approached a female employee outside the entrance of the Great Western Bank shortly before the bank opened. He demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The employee was not hurt.

Authorities say the arrest came after a joint investigation conducted by Sioux Falls police and the FBI. Details were not immediately released. The man was expected to make a court appearance Tuesday afternoon.

The FBI says the suspect is from Grand Rapids, Mich., and had been staying in Sioux Falls for a few months with a relative.
